چکیده

Myofibroblastic dedifferentiation of well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDL) has rarely been documented, and WDL-associated low-grade osteosarcoma (OS) is extremely rare. Here we present a case of a 51-year-old man with three adjacent retroperitoneal masses corresponding to WDL, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT)-like, and lowand high-grade OS components. Regarding the IMT-like and low-grade OS components adjacent to the WDL component, it was ambiguous whether they represented WDL dedifferentiation or were primary tumors. In our case, all of the abovementioned components exhibited MDM2 amplification. Even though MDM2 amplification could be observed in primary IMT and primary low-grade OS, this finding strongly supported that those components constituted the spectrum of a single tumor along with their spatial relationship.

Primary orbital dedifferentiated liposarcoma with leiomyosarcomatous and low-grade osteosarcomatous differentiation

Liposarcoma originating in the orbit is extremely rare. Herein, we report a dedifferentiated lipo sarcoma arising from the orbit of a Chinese woman. This patient underwent tumor resection at the age of 56 years and recurred 50 months after the initial resection. Histologically, the initial lesion exhibited features of well-differentiated liposarcoma with focal areas of well-differentiated ossif...

Challenging dedifferentiated liposarcoma identified by MDM2-amplification, a report of two cases

BACKGROUND Liposarcoma is the most frequent soft tissue sarcoma. Well differentiated liposarcoma may progress into dedifferentiated liposarcoma with pleomorphic histology. A minority additionally features myogenic, osteo- or chondrosarcomatous heterologous differentiation. Genomic amplification of the Mouse double minute 2 homolog (MDM2) locus is characteristic for well differentiated and dedif...

Retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma with osteosarcomatous components: a case report.

We report a rare case of recurrent retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma with osteosarcomatous components. An 82-year-old male diagnosed with recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma underwent a tumor resection. Histologically, osseous matrix with osteoid and mature hyaline cartilaginous tissues with high cellularity were observed in a fibrous background through most of the tumor, and scatt...

Paravertebral Well-Differentiated Liposarcoma with Low-Grade Osteosarcomatous Component: Case Report with 11-Year Follow-Up, Radiological, Pathological, and Genetic Data, and Literature Review

Despite being one of the most frequent soft-tissue sarcomas, well-differentiated liposarcoma has never been reported near the spine. The authors present the case of a 67-year-old man with progressive history of back pain. Physical examination revealed a mass located within the right paravertebral muscles. MR and CT imaging showed a heavily ossified central mass surrounded by a peripheral fatty ...

Rare Aggressive Behavior of MDM2-Amplified Retroperitoneal Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma, with Brain, Lung and Subcutaneous Metastases

Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDL) is a histologically pleomorphic sarcoma, traditionally defined as well-differentiated liposarcoma with abrupt transition to high grade, non-lipogenic sarcoma. It can occur as part of recurrent well-differentiated liposarcoma, or may arise de novo. DDL most frequently occurs within the retroperitoneum, and while it is prone to local recurrence, it usually has a...
